Couple Getaways - M - Manzanita Beach

Not many peopls are familiar with one of my favorite beaches in Oregon. Manzanita Beach. It's a lovely bit of beach. I used to go here as a girl. My family rented the same little cabin about 3 times a year. It was a favorite because of the special picture window in the tiny room upstairs. I loved to color, read, and write while sitting on the window seat. I loved to watch the waves crash and listen to the roar of the ocean. And the best part of it all was that I got to climb up the wooden ladder to get there. No one could come up but me.

It is also a beautiful place to visit with your significant other. You will find tranquility there.

Manzanita caters to visitors who like a quiet, undisturbed setting. Its lack of department stores and noisy streets are its best feature. You can truly consider this a peaceful getaway.

Around the town's center, Laneda Street, there are a few select gift shops and other small stores. Manzanita's most popular ecological attraction is the Nehalem State Park (south of the town, on U.S. Highway 101), best known for its 900 acres of forest trails and scenic vistas. Camping, horseback riding, beachcombing, crabbing and fishing are a few of the park's popular activities.

For wildlife viewing, tide pool-combing, and surfing, head north of Manzanita to Oswald West State Park.

For a truly romantic way to end the day, a walk on the beach at sunset. Ahhhhhhh. Now that's peaceful!

All throughout April I'll be posting about Couple Getaways as part of the A-Z Challenge. I hope you'll stop by for the next destination! No passport necessary ;)

I love Manzanita - if I had a home on the Oregon Coast, that is where it would be.

Based on the pictures you provided, it looks fantastic. Oregon is already a beautiful state.

Trivia for you. Did you know that the state of Oregon is the safest state in the U.S. in the event of a nuclear holocaust? It is!
