Your Literary Forecast - Snow(bound) and (Blame the)Rain

Waving hi to all my favorite people! Sorry I'm a day late in posting but the weather has been a pain in the butt and I'm up to my eyeballs in work. Somewhere I lost a few hours yesterday, even when I stayed up late. Unfortunately, I've done too many late nights and I'm paying for it today - I don't feel good :( I'm not a winter girl and we've been having snow and ice - and I'm not very pleased about it.

I'm also trying to work this new Google-ized blog out. I'm used to typing in html, and now you can just type links - so I'm trying to make it harder than it really is. The picture thing also seems to give me some difficulty - but I'll get it sooner or later.

But enough of that sour puss business - what's everyone up to? It's dang cold around here! I had to put socks on this morning, and I'm not a sock person. I like my feet free. It's the weirdest thing, but I can't sleep with socks on. Anyone else like that? I sleep with my feet sticking out of the covers. I think it's because I'm claustrophobic - don't like to be all tucked in either or I feel trapped. I actually have all kinds of strange quirks and phobias - I don't recommend them at all. ;)

I watched The Illusionist the other day and really enjoyed it! I just sat back and enjoyed it - very well acted and directed. I'm not usually an Edward Norton fan, but he played the role well - a very different one for him. Mainly the family and I have been watching a lot of Indie movies as of late. I find them better acted and with a lot more substance. Some gems we've run across are:
In America, Little Miss Sunshine(what a riot), The House of D, Mean Creek, and Man in the Moon(this one is with Reese Witherspoon). I highly recommend them all - though Mean Creek is not a feel-good movie, but if you have teenagers, I think it's a smart one to watch.

So let's see - what news do I have for you. My January newsletter is out. Hopefully if you signed up for it you've received it. Sometimes it goes to the spam folder/bulk mail - so be sure to check that if you didn't get it yet.

What else...Oh I received a great review for Blame the Rain:

Rave review from Joyfully Reviewed
Blame the Rain is a sweet and spicy romantic tale that speaks to the hope that lives in us all; that we can find our soul mates, no matter the odds. The sex scenes are hot and emotional and the story is just full of all the emotion of a couple who discovers their soul-mate by accident and finally allows themselves to trust and believe. This is a great romantic story I’m sure I’ll reread in the future.~Reviewed by Maura

Also out is Best of Torrid Teasers Vol. 1 from Whiskey Creek Press Torrid with my short story Snowbound. For an excerpt, please go here: http://www.anncory.com/bestoftt.htm

And before I forget, I also had my short story Fantasea accepted by Forbidden Publications. Here's a blurb for ya to get you in the mood:

Among some boxes in her closet, Brianna finds a tattered old book with the name Fantasea on the cover. As she starts to read about the main character, Lorenzo, a man washed ashore after a boating accident, she is hooked, and is magically drawn into the story.

Brianna knows it’s all make-believe, but quickly falls for the handsome stranger. With his quick wit and rugged good looks, it’s a fantasy come true, further proven by a night of mad, passionate love underneath the stars.

In the morning, a rescue team arrives on the island to whisk them to safety. Lorenzo is only too happy to continue their romance back among civilization, but Brianna believes that once they leave, the island magic that brought them together will disappear, and she will too.

Now, I did get my cover for Next Floor Naughty - my very first book from Ellora's Cave, but I can't post it just yet. Once I get the OK - you bet I'll be sharing it :) I'm totally stoked!! It's very sexxy ;) Yes, I know - I'm a terrible tease!!!

Question of the week:
If you were stranded in the snow somewhere and could wish for a dogsled pulled by 4 gorgeous and hunky men to get you to safety - who would the 4 men be? They can be musicians, models, actors, artists - you name it. 4 men who will gladly brave the snow to rescue you - and yes they'd be nekkid!

Here's the blurb from my story Sex Marks the Spot:

An evening aboard an exotic cruise ship turns into a nightmare for Charlotte Alderman. Cold and wet, she makes her way ashore what appears to be a deserted island, until she runs into a devastatingly handsome stranger with a sword. The last thing she needs is to fall for some ill-mannered pirate who only has gold and jewels on his mind.

Captain Phineas Parr gets quite a surprise when he comes across a beautiful lass draped over the very spot he plans to dig for buried treasure. Convinced she is a spy working for his archenemy, Fowler, he decides to keep an eye on her, though to look at her is more of a pleasure than a pain.

As Charlotte helps search for the hidden booty, she discovers that adventure has been missing in her life, while Phineas realizes that love can be the greatest treasure of all. The only thing standing in their way is a murderous pirate with a score to settle.

Welcome back, Ann. I can't sleep with socks on either and like my feet out from under the covers-too hot otherwise.
Congrats Kerri1973.

You are a very busy girl. And the sock thing, I used to be able to sleep with them on until the hot flashes started up. Which makes cold winter nights a total pain in the butt, because my head and hands are freezing... Also saw Man in the Moon, makes me cry everytime.

I love being cozy and warm and wear socks all winter long. The warmer the better with my trusty Hudson's Bay Blanket.

Sorry to hear the weather there sucks. Here it was too cold for my taste. Good thing is starting to warm up. I think the temps are up to the 80's at night. :)

I'm so glad to hear other people can't sleep with socks on either! I absolutely can't have bedsheets tucked under the mattress either. When I stay in a hotel, it's one of the first things I do is untuck the sheets, LOL

I hear you Dena - very crazy weather in the Northwest. So far the sun has been out this week - and the temperature is warming up, but still frosty mornings BRRRRR!

*snicker* Googlized links. I prefer to manually edit, because they end up going screwy on me anyway, at least on LinksAPlenty. They're trying to take all the fun out of it for us.

Since I fell at work a few years ago, I can't really wear socks, because my ankle is still tender and swollen. I let my feet burrow into the covers, and hope for the best.
